So, I may enjoy milking this photo from time to time by posting it to hiking Tumblrs. It is one of my favorite photos of myself.
I need to schedule some trail time soon.
Grayson Highlands. October 21-23, 2011. There’s something so calming about disappearing into the woods for a weekend. Even when it’s 30 degrees out.
I hate bugs.
Hate.
I’m covered in about 40 bug bites on my legs right now. At first I thought it was poison ivy from the concentrated area that they appeared, but now that it’s been 2 days and they haven’t developed into a rash I’ve realized that these are just bug bites. The likely culprit is chiggers.
Hate.

Iron Mountain Trail - near Damascus, VA
The Iron Mountain Trail was part of the original Appalachian Trail until the 70’s when they rerouted a portion of the AT and moved it down to a creek bed instead of this ridgeline. Sadly, we didn’t get to spend much time on this trail due to some map / trail guide snafus.
