Multi-Touch Glass Keyboard and Mouse. Little cameras mounted below the glass capture diffused LED light caused by your finger touching the glass surface. A simple technology, but so beautifully executed.
Thanks to a Kickstarter project, these things will be a production reality. (via The Awesomer)

UPGRADE!

I broke down my overpowered and ignored PC in favor of a Mac Mini, upgraded to a larger desk with more storage, purchased 2 new 23” LED monitors and a VESA mount for my desk, and got a more comfortable chair. Something tells me that I won’t be ignoring my desktop computer anymore.

Time to be productive!

Oh, I’ll be selling a lot of computer parts in the next few days too, if anyone’s interested. Mint.com is yelling at me already.

TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE! I’m beefing up my HTPC and upgrading the case to the bottom one. I’m also building a home office and replacing my tower PC with a Mac Mini and dual monitors. Now I’ll consume less power and still have a very functional setup.

My inner peace comes from a clean living room. I will be sad when I finally have to move from this place.

Is Graphene a Miracle Material?

This is a mind boggling article about a new material that was theorized in 1947 and first really built upon in 2004. The material is now being used in developing high powered transistors. The material is also one of the strongest and thinnest materials currently known. 3 million sheets of graphene on top of each other would still only be 1mm thick and the material is supposedly 200x stronger than steel. Electronics companies are currently using it to make transparent and/or flexible electronics, with Samsung being one of the forerunners of the material. They have already produced a 25-inch flexible touchscreen with Graphene. This material could effectively change electronics as we know it. (via BBC News)

It’s incredible to think about how far technology has come along. The computing power that a run of the mill CPU produces would have required a series of tubes and switches possibly the size of a large battleship. A quad-core? Maybe the size of a small city.
